Review: Whats there to love about the MGS Series? Is it the Action, is it the Funny Easter Eggs that are always incorperated in each game, or is it the Story? For years, the MGS Series gave us those things to love. However, with the release of MGS4, many people saw the beginning of the end of the long lived franchise, Or was it a illusion?

Enter Peace Walker, the newest edition to the MGS Family. Not only is this the 5th MGS game for the PSP (and the 2nd game to be consitered part of the main story line) This is the first one to be directed by Series Creator: Hideo Kojima.

So what does this mean? It means that this game is HUGE!!!! There is so many things to get done in this game that it will last you at least 35+ hours and you still will come back for more. Building your own Metal Gear, sending your troops into combat, playing Extra Ops missions, Holding up people with a Banana, Hiding in a Tank Box and unleashing your awesome CQC moves only touches what you can do in this game.

But what strikes gold the most in this game is the Story. You play as the legandary Big Boss (aka Snake) as he is leading a small group of mercs called Soldiers without Borders (which eventually becomes "Outer Heaven"). You are then offered a mission to drive a CIA lead coallation out of Costa Rica, which the country has no millitary. Although Snake refuses, you are then lead to think that The Boss (the one you fought in MGS3) is Alive in that country. Prompting Snake to accept the mission. Now unlike most MGS Stories which can lead to a serious case of Cluster F***, this game's story is straight forward and easy to understand, although it is wise that you have at least played the other MGS Games to get a better understanding of the story itself...but its not needed.

Throughout the game, you can recruit enemy soldiers to your squad to expand your unit. Doing so will give you better weapons, different outfits, and can keep your unit happy. Recruitment is easy as it is fun.....knock out an enemy, attach a fulton to him and watch in go sky high....then continue with your mission. However, you only have 10 fultons to use, so recruit those that are useful for you.

There's also one other thing that im happy to see: CO-OP. Because kicking ass isnt only limited to your self ebiggrin.gif . With a friend, you can storm the enemy with whatever weapons you choose to arm yourself with and with 3 other friends (not counting yourself) You can go up agains't a tank, or a Metal Gear etc. Ammo is shared and things become easier for you as your not going into a blaze of bullets by yourself.

To conclude, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is one of the biggest MGS's yet, possibly bigger then MGS4, and although there is not MGO system for PW, Ad-Hoc CO-OP is still awesome. With so many things to do in this one game, its extremely hard to put this game down, and with the game being constantly updated with new content, the awesomness will never die out with this game.

Verdict: 12/10 (yea....its over ten...get over it, its earned it)

I love MGS, its one of the series nearest and dearest to my heart. It's a pity I don't have a PSP anymore though. A co-worker of mine has the special edition autographed by Hideo. Though he pirated the game so he wouldn't have to open the package.
