Sev
i know its not a game but i thought i should put it up anyway. If you saw the original karate kid many of the moments from the original were slightly redone in the remake, the remake seems to have more violence though and child abuse [children getting kicked in the head and flown across the room, hell yes] Its not said how old they are, but Jaden and the others seem to be at least 12 :/ Jaden Smith, who plays Dre moves to China after his Mother gets Transfered and gets into Trouble with another kid on his first day there. Jaden was hitting on the kids friend whom jaden likes and The Kid beats up Jaden pretty badly. Jaden gets payback by doing something that provokes a whole group of the kids and is cornered. The kids beat jaden up to the brink until Jackie Chan Kicks some ass :D All in All the story follows the original very well but makes some cool tweaks The Action is awesome, nuff said. They may be young but they kick each others ass up and down the walls The Last Scenes of the movie simply kick ass The Actors did a good job, though out of everyone in the movie i liked Jackie Chan the most, he played a good old instructor :D The ONLY complaint i have for the movie, is the Dialogue sometimes is a little unbelievable but that shouldnt ruin the experience The Verdict: even if you have seen the original, theres a 7/9 chance youll like this one :D its pretty damn good.i give it a 8.7/
Zan
Yeah, i'm waiting for this one to come down here... one of the big improvements imho is that jackie chan actually knows martial arts, pat morita didn't. And the movie being 'ambienced in china should give us a more violent movie instead of the everyday streets of reseda. Oh well, going to give this one a try when it comes.' Aero
And the movie being 'ambienced in china should give us a more violent movie instead of the everyday streets of reseda. How would the movie setting in Beijing make it more violent than the streets of Los Angeles? If anything, due to China's strictness of a communist government, makes it less violent. Perhaps I'm seeing a different perspective that you can shine a light on.its pretty damn good.i give it a 8.7/10Couldn't agree more. I do like this movie a lot in terms of what it exemplified. It showed that to reach greatness, you must put time and effort to your 'kung fu', or skill. Slamming your fist on the pavement (or keyboard) doesn't do much for progress. People often ask what is the secret to getting good at staffs/dualies. Mastering the basics first, then tackle the advanced. For example, Mr Han doesn't teach Dre in the initial lessons how to do some double jump aerial kick; instead, he has him put his jacket on and then off over and over. Seems like a useless piece of info until later on, it becomes an actual fighting technique. It preaches and teaches a moral of a story that I think is an overall good influence for all ages. What i meant with "violent" is more "kung-fu-style", as in a more elaborate, more choreographed way of fight since karate / kung-fu came from eastern asia. Simply put from what i saw in the trailer i meant when all those kids were training at some temple.
Theos Sairin
from what you said about 7/9 chance of liking it if u saw the original, i will give it a chance and see it... i was hesitant cos i loved the original, but u persuaded me =D
Vaan
I haven't seen it, but it seemed like the movie just played off the original story. Which is all so common in these numerous re-makes every director is doing. Take the original story, twist it add some flashy CG and some nostalgic line or part everyone in the movie theatre can go. "HAHAHAHAHAHA I REMEMDUR DAT!" Oh well, I'll still see it, for Jacky Chan makes me happy. :>
