please help with feedback

Recommended Posts

I've always wanted my career to be in composing, but I think it's now looking more towards video game composing than anything. I've uploaded two tracks to Newgrounds.com but I need some feedback, anything will help. I'm really serious about this, and you don't need to know about music theory or anything to give feedback, just music.

Both tracks are more suited to Fantasy RPG games, and I'm quite pleased with how they both turned out.

First one is called Just A Tear, and I think it's more suited to being main menu music, or town/world music... This is the newest track (made yesterday morning) and probably my favourite... I need feedback on how you think it works, in what I could improve the overall effect...

Second one is called Keep Going! and uses a slight extract from Final Fantasy VII Battle Theme. This one I'm not as concerned about, but the style and layout is what I need feedback on most of all.

I'm not asking for long reviews on anything, just a quick thought on both the tracks. Any thoughts or advice is all I need, any words will help me. Neither track is very long, Just A Tear is 2 minutes, Keep Going! is 1 and a half minutes.

Thanks to anyone who can help =) I will update with any new tracks that are made, so if you actually like the music then watch the topic for updates =)

"Just A Tear" kind of reminds me of Snowboard Kids, a very happy time. I really liked it.

I can totally see "Keep Going" as battle scene music. Intense, yet not to dramatic and has a nice beat to it.

Very well done. I want more tracks though. =]

and yup keep going was made to a video of a fight in final fantasy xiii, i was afraid that it might have been a bit too dramatic but if u didnt think so then thats very good news for me =D

Nice tracks.

The first sounds like a really cheery mood theme which is pretty chilling to listen to.

The Keep going, sounds good just one moment toward the end where this back noise around 1.09, it then gets louder, its like a distortion noise, it seems kinda outta place in that part but i think this entire track is very nice. Especially, 0.33 onward - my fave bit until 1.09, it really has a nice rhythm to it and a flowing mix between the new sounds being introduced.

Very nice work!

cheers, final fantasy is like my biggest influence with game music so there's your reason dancer ;)

yeah i know what u mean about that noise... if i get a chance i'll go back to the original track and sort that out... i was trying to think of something big to put there and i just used that to compensate XD think i may have to experiment a bit more with that part

cheers for the feedback guys =) means a lot
