In the future

Recommended Posts

In the somewhat near future I'll be making my own custom gaming computer...

the only problem is...

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO BUY OR WHAT WORKS TOGETHER IHRIUH#IU2@JHUIHWOFWDIH!

So! I've made this topic so you guys can help me out :faec:

I'm looking to spend around $700-800 with as much bang for my buck as I can get. As far as parts go, my only real requests are that the keyboard and mouse match and be somewhat badass.

Alienware's keyboard and mouse looks pretty sweet but if you guys can find something better I'm all ears.

Odi's build was like the final straw that got me excited for overclocking so if you guys wanna hook me up with how to do that correctly I'd be super thankful.

But yeah, feel free to shout random processors or graphics cards you think I'll like and be sure to argue with each other!

Soo I went a bit overboard:

Total: $1,170 no mouse, no keyboard.

This is more conservative:

If need be I can cut it down to ~650 so you can fit a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. If you want a nice monitor you'll need at least $150, but I recommend getting a used one from Craigslist, just make sure it works before you pay for it.

When you get all the parts I can easily tell you how to assemble them on Skype or something.

Awesome Bars, thanks a ton man. I won't be buying the parts yet or building for that matter since I'm still in college, but I'll definitely consider it when I head home for the summer. Let me get your skype now so I can hit you up when I end up going through with it.

So obviously these parts work together flawlessly right? Also, will both of these builds be able to handle any game out right now?

I've built a number of machines and researched the interconnect-ability of parts a lot. Those parts have a 98% chance of all working together perfectly. If they didn't it would be due to a Bios revision problem or something in the extreme details I missed, but it seems unlikely. Still other people should look over them and see if they have any problems with my choices.

The build on the top should play any game you can throw at it on Ultra settings, with 16x aa, and Netflix in HD or a Blueray HD movie playing on your second monitor, at a stable 30+ fps. The second build could play any game you throw at it on Ultra with 4-8x aa, and no peripheral programs.

You should have told me it was almost 7 months until you wanted to buy this stuff lol, in 7 months you'll have a ~20% increase in performance-per-cost.

In 7 months you'll get the $1,170 setup for about $900, or the $865 for about $680. So if your price range remains the same, re-post here when your actually thinking about purchasing it and I'll compile a better list.
