Johnnydillinger
HAI! I have some weird shit going off here on this piece of ass computer as of late. I'm posting 2 threads about games that just won't fucking start up, and this is the first (and more important) one. I was about to play this freeware japanese psychological horror thing called Yume Nikki (Dream Diary), and it won't even start up. The game was made with RPG maker, and has some japanese characters in the folders and such, and believe me when I say, I tried all the solutions regarding the folders ad their freaky chars, and came to the conclusion that it probably is not the problem. I have all the east asian characters installed, though none of the installers ran through applocale, so that's weird. Basically when I'm starting it up (on windows XP), I get one error message, which says in hungarian "Hiba! Az osztály nincs regisztálva!". I'm only writing it down in hungarian because whatever I tried, I could not find its counterpart in english. The message means something like "the class is not registered", which may or may not have to do something with classes not finding their way in my registry. Probably the best solution would be to ask if anyone of you guys could download this game (50 MBs), install for yourselves and copy the registry key for me and upload it; just tell me which directory you put the game into. (FYI: the game is freeware. Yeah it's all free and rainbow-y) The game can be downloaded from here: http://www.theneitherworld.com/yumenikki/links.htm Info on it, in case you want to give it a go too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yume_Nikki I downloaded both english versions listed there, and both yielded the same result. I'd say try the first link (site recommends so), and if you decide to use the second, let me know when you post your registry. Thanks in advance to anyone if you make this. Johnnydillinger
Ohkay, scratch all that, I think I've found the problem. While I had the character setting support on this PC for a long time, the installers (both english ones) would not give a fuck, and install the folders and files with really weird names, like ŹŠŽť‹ŕ• and stuff, instead of the japanese characters. Solution: I downloaded the japanese version, and then renamed all the files in the english version's folder to their respective counterpart, comparing filesizes. It was a pain in the ass, as there are 100+ files to rename, but I found a quicker way to do so. Problem: There's only one folder in the english version, with only one file, that seems to be an original one, yet it has those weird characters, implying that it should be with japanese characters. The folder is this: ***/Yume Nikki/System/ŹŠŽť‹ŕ• It's the only folder within the System one, and it has only one file named Ž¦—p.xyz. I found its counterpart in the japanese version, but it's alongside with other files inside the System folder itself, and not in that directory. So now I'm left with these 2 last steps away from victory, and I can't find anything helpful on the web. Could anyone install the game, and post the folder's and file's names? That's probably all I need to get this shit running already. Or if someone could find any solution to make the installer install the game with the right folder- and filenames, that would be helpful too. Thanks in advance, if anyone helps. Johnnydillinger
Update number deux - scratch ALL that, it's not the problem, the game SHOULD have folders and filenames like that. It's just crashing on startup with that "class is not found in the registry (?)" error message that I've never seen before. If anyone has any ideas about that, go ahead and tell me. Thanks in advance.
